Kennels: Individualized preparation for you and your dog
Brad Turner
and Stillmotion Kennels specialize in preparing young dogs for
field trial competition. It is with these young dogs that Brad most
enjoys working, and with whom he has had much success in the past eight
years.
However,
not every dog will perform at the level of a field trial competitor.
Stillmotion Kennels excels at bringing each dog up to its highest level
of perfomance. We believe there is much to be gained for both the dog
and owner by seeking to establish each dog's best performance level.
You may find you have an excellent life-long hunting companion even
if you don't have the next field trial champion.
For
the very young dog, Stillmotion Kennels offers Headstart.
If
you find that you dont have the time or room that is required
for training a young dog, Headstart@Stillmotion Kennels takes
them from the age of 7 weeks to 6 months.
At approximately
six months of age, your dog is ready to start formal yard
work in preparation for field trial competition.
In
Yard Work@Stillmotion
Kennels, dogs are introduced to formal obedience,
the forced hold, collar-conditioning, steadying, the forced fetch,
collar fetch, the 3-handed cast, force to a pile, and introduced
to indirect pressure.
During
this period, your dog will become ready to participate in
hunting
tests.
We
can work with you to teach you to handle your own dog at hunting
tests, or we can handle the dog for you as he or she pursues the
hunting test titles: Junior, Senior, and Master Hunter.
Your
dog may then show the ability to compete in field trials.
We
can teach you to handle your own dog, or prepare the dog to work
with a pro who specializes in field trial competition.
